Mimmo Colbourne is an Enology major at Fresno State. After he earns his bachelor’s degree he hopes to enter the winemaking world, finding new niches in the industry to explore. His rich love of music motivated him to connect with Fresno State Radio.  After meeting with station management, he launched into volunteer work for FSR Underground, including hosting the station’s afternoon drive programming.

 

Mimmo currently hosts the weekday afternoon drive show (M-F from 2 pm to 6 pm) playing alternative rock pulling music from Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, and Triple-A formats. In addition to his on-air program, Mimmo is volunteering behind the scenes with music programming, marketing & public relations, event management, web content & development and more.

 

Mimmo joined FSR Underground in the fall of 2025 and is a core member of the student-produced radio station. Coming from a background where music enveloped every part of everyday life, he’s explored a wide variety of music, from staple genres such as classic and yacht rock, to bizarre and experimental artists like Funkadelic and Frank Zappa. His love of music lies in its diversity and complexity, when rhythm and expression come together in such a passionate way that it illuminates the soul. Music has forever been a constant in his life, and he is exceptionally excited to be involved with FSR Underground that provides a source of true new and alternative music for listeners.

 

In his free time, Mimmo explores every creative outlet he can find, from playing a variety of instruments, skateboarding, cooking, traveling, thrifting, and hunting through record shops for vinyl. He also enjoys meeting new people and making new friends.  He finds great joy in spending time with friends, sharing interesting stories, and bringing people together.

 

Finally, a fun fact about Mimmo is that he has been fortunate enough to travel around the world. Experiencing the rush of landing in a completely new place and getting to explore differences in culture and cuisine is one of his favorite experiences in the world. Having lived in Rome, London, The Bay Area, and now Fresno, he cherishes the memories he’s made and friends he has met, eager in anticipation to continue the journey, see new sights and meet new people!
