Although it was technically an internship, it never felt like one. I had the opportunity to pursue my passions while also learning new and exciting aspects of the radio industry...
I became involved with Fresno State Radio during my senior year at Fresno State. What began as a simple internship blossomed into experiences in several areas of the radio industry. I worked in Marketing and Public Relations, Web Content and Development, Music Programming and Event Management.
During my time at the stations, I helped develop and manage website and social media content. I created graphics to promote the music featured on FSR Underground, as well as the station’s various on-air programs. I conducted research and wrote biographies for radio show hosts to be featured on KFSR’s website.
Fresno State Radio not only introduced me to the exciting world of radio, but it also provided the opportunity to complete the internship required for graduation. The experience was really fun and so much more fulfilling than I had imagined. I formed meaningful connections with several other students involved with the radio stations, many of whom I still keep in touch with today.
During my time with the stations, I developed a strong connection with the station’s general manager, Julie Logan Lindahl. She generously provided letters of recommendation as I began applying for jobs after graduation. I truly believe that her support played a significant role in helping me get to where I am today.
My time with Fresno State Radio was nothing short of amazing, and I have many great memories from my experience there. Although it was technically an internship, it never felt like one. I had the opportunity to pursue my passions while also learning new and exciting aspects of the radio industry.
I strongly encourage Fresno State students get involved with Fresno State Radio. It offers students an incredible academic and professional development program with a strong sense of community and passionate, supportive people.
