March 15, 2026: Fresno State Academic Advising
Fresno State students have access to a gold mine of academic advising resources, and using them is key to student success. Fresno State provides major-specific academic advising centers, and you can find yours by visiting the Fresno State Advising Hub website. And if you don't have a major yet, no worries! There are academic advising services for undeclared students, too. Most advising offices offer both walk-in and scheduled appointments, and students can also book through their student portal. The advising centers are the lifeblood of navigating your education, with more services than you might realize.
The online Advising Hub and the in-person advising centers offer assistance with everything from basic information to help with complicated issues.
Students have access to their Degree Plan, official Degree Progress Report, GPA checks, class registration assistance, and more. There are programs for new and returning students that I didn’t even know about until I looked into them! The Advising Hub walks students through a step-by-step process specifically for returning undergraduate students for the fall and spring semesters! Returning students can follow a step-by-step process each semester. First-year students have programs like ‘Finish in Four and Through in Two’ with priority registration and advisor appointments. It’s really helpful.
Help is also available for students on academic hold, probation, or disqualification. The Advising Hub offers explanations and steps to resolve the issues. Make sure you talk to your major advisor to understand notices and get holds released. Grade protests are also available if a student feels they have been graded unfairly, with instructions on how to proceed.
The Academic Counselors are available to you to support your academic journey, help you stay on track, and get you ready to graduate and pursue a successful career. Policies vary by office, but all are focused on helping you succeed. Don’t wait to book your appointments! They fill up fast each semester, so keep an eye on the calendar for registration dates and head to your academic advising office early.
